Concert Night

Tonight, for some unknown reason, okay not unknown, I went out and bought 2 new CD’s. My reason? The roomie is out for the night so it is concert night! Oh to play loud music… So, I wanted to get a couple of current CD’s.

One CD I wanted to get was Katy Perry’s new one with California Girls. I really like that song. Or at least I thought I did. I guess they speed it up or have some radio only version. It is a much better song, on the radio, in the car. The rest of the CD, to be blunt, sucks. She is so lame and lacking in musical talent. I cannot understand how she is so popular. This new generation is being deprived of real musicians.

I bought the CD for 2 reasons. California Girls and Starbucks is offering a $5.00 card with the purchase of any CD (the 18th and 19th only so act fast – someone get me the Elton John Leon Russell CD and I’ll trade you for Katy). The CD is also scented. Scented? That should have been my first clue right there. I think I am going to have to toss the cover, really should just toss the whole thing and block it from my mind.

In the end the CD cost me 11 bucks. I really wish I had my 11 bucks. Katy Perry's CD sucks. How is it she is so popular?

How is it I am not?

My second CD choice, tonight, was Michael Buble. Now this is a musician. I really like the old style lounge singer – is that what it is? No, it’s the big band sound, Michael and Harry Connick Jr. My Dad loved this style of music and I always secretly enjoyed it when he played those tunes (memory here – my Dad and I once went and saw Buddy Rich at the El Macombo way back when it was on Yonge Street… great night).

Michael’s album Crazy Love has some great tunes and it was worth the stroll over to HMV. 2 CD’s, so it has the studio version and some live versions as well. It’s on now and I really like it!

I do enjoy these concert nights. I have the perfect apartment for them. I can play the music loud and no one complains (It's 12:30am). No one can hear it, unless they are in the hallway.

Ok, gotta go and turn up the tunes…

I was glad to read that David Chen, the Grocer that captured a thief, had all charges against him dismissed. Finally, the law swayed in the correct direction. I have read some comments that the law states that what he (David) did was a crime and; therefore, he had to be arrested. Bullshit. The law is not something that is ordained and handed down to us by some superior being. The laws was created by us, for us and it does not always serve us in the way it is intended.

We are imperfect; therefore, our laws are imperfect.

I believe that most situations would need someone with common sense to review and apply the law in a logical manner. Charging a man that captured a thief is ridiculous. The message we send should be: if you are going to steal and you get caught you’re going to be held accountable. If the Grocer, or someone else, captures you during the act, or after the fact, you will be charged.

Criminals, like Anthony Bennet, know that if they scream and yell and kick and punch they will get away with their crimes. Bennett has had 43 convictions and his longest sentence was 90 days. No wonder he keeps victimizing the same store Owner(s). I cannot imagine committing the same crime 43 times and being set free to do it all over again.

David Chen is not the criminal. I believe he had every right to chase down and detain the criminal that robbed him. Mr. Chen, is not chasing after random customers, he had video evidence to back up his actions; Bennett was known to him and to the police. Our legal officials should have reviewed that and then moved onto something more important. Like prosecuting the actual criminal in this case.

Occured to me

Recently, I have noticed lots of people that look like people I know. I saw a young girl this evening that looked a lot like a girl I went to school with. I have seen others as well that, at least, remind me of people I know.

I guess the universal gene pool is drying up, so repeats are necessary…

Working Underground

I am unexpectedly at work this evening. I have less than an hour to go and I find myself a little tired and a lot bored! I do not really like working at this location. It is really small and it is underground. No light, no air. Two reasons I said okay and took the shift. One, the money will be nice on pay day and two, a friend that works here offered to take me for dinner if I came in. How could I say no?

This Morning on TMZ

Well folks, today is my Friday and I as a treat I bought a tea and chocolate croissant. I also reviewed the latest happenings on TMZ. Lets begin.

Madonna's "old" journals were pulled off of Ebay last night. I would love to read those! Can you imagine? I wonder what the story is behind that; how did her old journals end up floating around??? I hope no one ever finds mine...

Lindsay L. left a lawyer's office, yesterday, after a 7 hour deposition. Apparently, she held some people hostage as she drove down the highway. I don't know, but it seems to me if you got in the car and you are older than 10, you would have known that Lindsay wasn't going to stop on the highway and let you out. Anyway, what really gets me is that her "fans" waited outside the Lawyer's office to get pictures when she left. Her fans? How is it she has fans?

As for the rest of the TMZ stories, I can relate to the latest on Tiger Woods. Have you seen the latest shot of him? Now that's a serious case of swamp ass! I suffer from that, from time to time, and it is not fun. The upside for me is that no one has ever taken a shot of it!

Check out the TMZ site. Lots of interesting distractions.

Close Calls

My roommate walked out the door this evening around 6:30. I immediately thought; music! I got up and grabbed my cd changer and popped it in. P!nk, just what I needed. I was about to start cooking when I decided to straighten up the dining room table. One thing lead to another and next thing I know I am in full swing clean up mode.

Every trip downstairs was in full capacity; taking something down when I needed to get something to bring back up. I had the vacuum cleaner in hand on one trip and next thing I know, I am using it to dust the shelves. As I was cleaning my car collection I realized, this cleaning thing might just be an avoidance tatic. Although my place is in need of a deep spring clean, I thought, I might be in the grip of a distraction that is taking me away from the real issues.

As I realized this I quickly brought myself out of clean up mode. I finished the shelves I was working on wrapped things up. I took the garbage out and I put a pot of water on to boil. I took one more trip downstairs, to have a shower. I came back and made a quick dinner. As I sat down to watch an episode of Xena and eat my meal I thought, wow that was close. I almost got lost in that clean up frenzy at the expense of just sitting back and having a quiet evening.

Hospital theft follow-up

According to the National Post, one of the two bottom dwellers has been arrested. He is on probation. No surprise there. I wonder what his sentence for this crime will be? If there is any justice he will be behind bars for a few years, but why do I think he wont be? Let's get the second guy so both of these losers are accounted for.
