Mel Gibson. I will say upfront that I think spending the amount of time on this topic that our media has is a huge waste of time. First, the man was drunk, apparently drinks quite a bit, which says pretty much all we need to know. Second, in his interview with Diane Sawyer he says it all. He claims that the comments he made are not the type of person he is. He said that the alcohol loosened his tongue. Whatever Mel, when I am drunk and my tongue gets loose I do not find myself making racial slurs and referring to female Police Officer's as “sugar tits”. I also found it very interesting that you had the presence of mind to consider your image. You splashed cold water on your face and fixed your hair prior to having your mug shot taken. You did this by your own admission because you were thinking of Nick Nolte’s mug shot and you didn’t want one like that, of yourself, out there. I see Mel, we are to believe that the words you were spouting were not you, or a reflection of the man you are, because you were drunk and therefore; not in command of your faculties . Yet you were in command enough to fix your hair for your mug shot. Mel again, whatever.
I am reminded here of a quote from Maya Angelou. “When someone shows you who they are, believe them”. I believe you Mel.
